See how to create a flow with the Visitor clicks on chat icon trigger. This trigger opens the Tidio chat widget when the Visitor clicks on your chat icon. If you'd like to have a simple chat button on your website and send an automated message only when a visitor opens the chat - this guide is for you!
In this article, you'll learn:
- How initial Flow message works
- How to show a message after clicking on the chat icon
- How to edit the Button Label messages
Your initial automated message
Tidio automatically activates a flow on your website during the initial setup. The flow is created with the 'First visit on site' trigger, which displays an automated message immediately when a new visitor arrives on your site.
Show a message after clicking the chat icon
To make sure your flow sends a message only when a visitor opens the chat, you need to change your flow's trigger. Head to the Flows section and choose the flow you'd like to edit. Click on the edit button to enter the flow editor.
Your flow might be using the First visit on-site trigger. The trigger is the first blue node at the top; it tells your flow to start and send an automated message.
If you want this flow to send an automated message only if a visitor clicks on your chat's icon - change the trigger to Visitor clicks on the chat icon. First, remove the current trigger; click on the trigger and then on the X in the upper-right corner.
Then, open the Triggers menu on the right, choose the Visitor clicks on chat icon trigger, drag it onto the workspace, and connect the trigger with the next action in your flow ('Send a chat message' in our example).
All done! From now on, your message will appear in the chat's widget only when a visitor clicks on your chat's icon.
The button label
You can edit that message or turn it off completely. To do that, go to Channels > Live Chat > Appearance > Widget Settings > Button Label.
Example
A great idea is to use the Visitors clicks on chat icon trigger inside a custom FAQ flow. By using that trigger in such a flow, you can send your visitors a list with the most common inquiries, and the flow will provide the necessary answers.
